New Implementation of a Data Exchange Platform

INTEGRATE, in collaboration with a team of developers, is supporting a customer in the healthcare sector with the re-implementation of a Switzerland-wide data exchange platform that connects insurance companies, patients, doctors, pharmacies, and laboratories. The existing application program was replaced through parallel operation with a more powerful system and expanded with new functions.

INTEGRATE's software engineers worked closely with the customer's developers to define the software architecture. They supported the new development from situation analysis to architecture design, software programming, and 3rd level support. They also provided flexible support to users with workarounds to maintain operations at all times. The project, which has been running since 2015, therefore covered all phases of software development and was successfully completed using the SCRUM project method.

At the start of the project, internal business processes and workflows were analyzed and modeled. The careful analysis in close cooperation with the customer brought together various stakeholder groups. Requirements, expectations, and wishes for the new system were recorded, prioritized, and their implementation options evaluated. Coordination between the developers, users, and end customers, who were connected to the platform via REST interfaces, was particularly important. INTEGRATE's developers designed and implemented new file transfer components to enable the exchange and receipt of various customer documents. The focus was on the robustness and offline capability of the system to prevent data loss even in the event of interruptions.
